Believe it or not, a manufacturer of fine wristwatches, currently one of the most popular (and expensive) brands on the market today, was essentially rescued from obscurity by Sylvester Stallone. The action film star, most famous for his roles in the “Rocky” and “Rambo” films, was in Italy in 1995 filming a movie called “Daylight” when he came across a unique looking timepiece in a Rome jewelry store. It was a Panerai.
Today, Panerai watches are so popular you can find replica Panerai watches all over the internet, but less than twenty years ago that level of popularity would have seemed like an impossible dream for the brand. The Panerai watch company was begun all the way back in 1860 by the eponymous Giovanni Panerai in Florence, Italy. Eventually the brand became the gold standard of Italian chronometers and was used by the Royal Italian Navy to outfit their commandos during the Second World War. After the war, Italy was in chaos and the brand seemingly lowered manufacturing standards to become more affordable to the general consumer. Whatever may have happened, the light had faded and Panerai had become a shadow of its former self.
…until the day Sly Stallone picked one up.
Mr. Stallone said as soon as he saw the watch he knew it had “Star Power” and decided to wear it in his upcoming film. Afterwards, he had them custom-make a special edition with his signature on the back and gave them to friends, including another then-action-film-star and current Governor of California, Arnold Schwarzenegger. The exposure breathed new life into the Panerai brand and inadvertently created a market for replica Panerai timepieces in addition to the real thing.
Today, Panerai has a contract to make branded Ferrari wristwatches and is considered one of the best and most stylish chronometers on the market. Their look is unique and distinctly Italian, although they are now largely manufactured in Switzerland.

Choosing a cheap web hosting company can be a good way to get your site on the internet, but in the event that you have a problem with the site, you will want to choose a hosting company that comes with a high level of support. Through the level of support that is provided by the company, this can often determine the amount of the monthly or annual fees that are charged to the client for the hosting services that are being provided.
A higher level of customer support and service often warrants higher prices. Why is this case? At the hosting company, in order to offer the highest level of support to the customers, there are often high requirements for staff members that are working at the company. Through the high amounts of staff, the costs to run the company increase – and therefore result in the higher rates that are charged. In many cases, these rates are worth the increase in customer service, as any problems within the hosting services are going to solved quickly and efficiently and allow you to go on with the business and the product or service being offered.

Yes, actually I think it does. That doesn’t necessarily mean there won’t be a need for web designers in the future, but I do believe it does mean there will be less of a need for them in the future. We will after all, still have a need for web designers to build us templates or themes of WordPress. But, it’s not like everyone building a site, needs to have their own personal designer tweaking CSS files, and photo-shopping their logos and graphics endlessly. I mean, how unique does your website really need to be?
And WordPress is not the only piece of software that gives webmasters this unparalleled freedom. While it’s true, that there are literally thousands of free WP themes available for download. While it does take some effort to browse through the loads of themes available and cull the dead wood, it can be well worth it when you find the perfect theme for your site. Even if you can find the perfectly designed theme, if you have even a thimbleful of tech savvy, you should be able to tweak the theme to look the way you want. And if, your unsure about what’s required to make your changes, you should be able to find plenty of help online.
Wordpress Vs Web Designers
WordPress and many other free blogging and CMS software applications are completely free for webmasters of all abilities to download and make use of. Other applications like Joomla, Pivot, and PHPNuke also offer a whole bundle of free themes or templates to make use of. You really can have a fully functioning website in a matter of minutes, if you know what your doing. Since most people putting up a website, can manipulate code a bit and use graphics tools like photoshop to change the images, there’s no limit to your website dreams.
I do believe, that there is a place for web designers in the future, as there will always be people that need a website, but have next to no technical abilities to do it on their own. But, there is a line being blurred between web designer and the regular everyday joe computer user. I’m happy for that, as the web designers left working in their field of endeavor will be the cream of the crop. Plus they will be capable of pushing the capabilities of the world of web design. That’s a good thing for all of us in the internet world. Heaven knows, there’s enough ugly websites out there already.
